About the Opportunity
My client is a respected and growing Australian not-for-profit, funding high-impact spinal cord injury research across Australia. With an expanding research portfolio, they are seeking a capable Research Portfolio Manager to bring structure, coordination, and momentum to this critical work. This role is ideal for someone with strong project management and administrative skills who can work confidently with senior stakeholders, including Board members, academic leaders, and scientists, and who enjoys operating in a flexible, evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Managing research projects from funding approval through to reporting
- Coordinating agreements, budgets, milestones, and governance processes
- Acting as a key point of contact for funded researchers and institutions
- Supporting grant rounds, panel meetings, and research events
- Preparing clear reports and updates for the CEO and governance bodies
- Managing research-related social media and working with Communications to share research progress appropriately
- Translating scientific updates into accessible content for stakeholders
- Supporting the delivery of the organisation’s research strategy
About You
You’re likely to succeed if you bring:
- Experience in medical research, research administration, or a related environment
- Strong project management, coordination, and organisational skills
- Confidence working with senior academics, scientists, and Boards
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- The ability to understand research concepts and communicate them clearly to non-technical audiences
- A flexible, pragmatic approach suited to a small, purpose-driven organisation
Experience with research governance, funding bodies, universities, or clinical environments will be highly regarded. Social media or digital communications experience within a research or health context will be advantageous. People with spinal cord injury are strongly encouraged to apply.
