About the Opportunity

Position: Project Director
Location: South East
Salary: up to £130,000

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a major water infrastructure and earthworks programme on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor. This long-term project involves the design and construction of large-scale water assets, complex earthworks, highways interfaces and environmentally sensitive works.

The role requires a proven leader capable of driving project performance, engaging collaboratively with stakeholders, and ensuring safe and successful delivery across the full lifecycle of a multi-year Design & Build scheme.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Providing overall leadership and direction to the project team.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact with the client’s senior leadership.
  • Managing risk, programme, financial performance and contract obligations.
  • Chairing progress meetings, steering reviews and collaborative workshops.
  • Developing and maintaining a high-performing, multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Overseeing health, safety, wellbeing and environmental performance on site.
  • Ensuring project KPIs, legacy commitments and stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Promoting knowledge-sharing and feeding lessons learned into the wider business.

About You

An accomplished senior leader with significant experience in delivering large-scale Design & Build civil engineering projects. Experience within the water infrastructure, earthworks or major infrastructure sectors. Experience managing major projects (£80m–£150m+). Strong client-facing skills and experience working within complex stakeholder environments. Leadership of large, multi-disciplinary project teams. Excellent understanding of NEC contracts, project controls and programme management. Knowledge of BIM and CDE Applications. Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or similar).
