To receive a quality education in project management, it's important to pick a reputable training organisation. Even though the content of similar courses at different places might be similar, the way they are organised and the skills of the instructors can be quite different, and this can affect the value of the education. This is especially important for PRINCE2® courses because they prepare students for tough exams.
Fortunately, organisations hoping to offer PRINCE2® courses have to be approved by PRINCE2®'s parent company, AXELOS. The Institute of Project Management is one of these Approved Training Organisations (ATO), and offers courses for both the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner levels. These courses are owned by AXELOS and are important for aspiring project managers.
PRINCE2®, an acronym for "PRojects IN Controlled Environments," serves as a prominent methodology within the realm of project management. Acquiring proficiency in the PRINCE2® approach gives project managers the ability to effectively navigate projects of varying scales across a multitude of industries, encompassing domains such as technology, marketing, construction, and more. A PRINCE2® certification carries substantial prestige and international recognition, giving recipients a competitive edge over their peers. In several nations, attaining a PRINCE2® certificate is even mandated for overseeing high-level projects. The PRINCE2® certification comprises two tiers: the Foundation and Practitioner levels.
PRINCE2® Foundation
The PRINCE2® Foundation level is an introductory course that teaches the fundamental principles and frameworks of the methodology. This course caters to new or aspiring project managers hoping to advance their careers or enhance their team and managerial skills. The course prepares students for an examination, with those passing being awarded the PRINCE2® Foundation certificate.
PRINCE2® Practitioner
The PRINCE2® Practitioner course is an advanced program tailored for experienced project managers. This course delves deeper into the intricacies of the PRINCE2® methodology and its application within real-world scenarios. Prospective students need to meet several prerequisites, including possession of PMP (Project Management Professional) and IPMA (International Project Management Association) certifications. The Practitioner course prepares students for an examination, the successful completion of which can lead to a certificate.
In 2013, AXELOS, a renowned global authority in examination and accreditation services, acquired PRINCE2®. However, as AXELOS itself does not offer training, it has forged partnerships with organisations across the world to disseminate PRINCE2® education on a global scale. However, due to the prestige of the PRINCE2® methodology and its certifications, AXELOS is selective when partners. Partner organisations undergo regular audits to ensure educational content aligns with the PRINCE2® exam requirements. Furthermore, the qualifications of the organisations' instructors are rigorously validated. AXELOS continuously monitors the content and instructors of its partner organisations.
Enrolling in an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) as opposed to other eLearning platforms or independent study offers an array of benefits, including:
Enrolling with an ATO guarantees that students receive the utmost quality in project management education, significantly enhancing their prospects of attaining a PRINCE2® certification. This credibility extends beyond PRINCE2® courses, serving as a testament to the organisation's commitment to delivering top-tier project management education across a spectrum of courses.
The Institute of Project Management is proud to be an Accredited Training Partner and offers courses for the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner levels. Both courses are live, online, and led by lecturers with extensive project management and teaching experience. If you would like to learn more, contact us by clicking here.
