About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading Global Hedge Fund, is seeking an experienced Long/Short Equity Senior Portfolio Manager to lead a high-conviction, macro-aware equities strategy focused on delivering absolute returns. The role requires a senior investor who consistently generates alpha by exploiting both upside and downside moves through rigorous fundamental research, disciplined risk management, and excellent trading execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead portfolio construction and day-to-day management of a long/short equity strategy aimed at delivering absolute returns
  • Source, research, and evaluate long and short ideas through rigorous fundamental analysis and valuation
  • Manage short positions effectively, including borrow availability, financing costs, and recall risks
  • Oversee risk at both position and portfolio level: stress-testing, scenario analysis, drawdown control, liquidity management
  • Execute trades efficiently in coordination with traders/brokers, minimizing slippage and market impact
  • Monitor and analyze performance; conduct post-trade reviews and refine investment processes
  • Interpret macroeconomic indicators and market sentiment to inform positioning and hedging
  • Provide leadership within the investment team — mentor analysts and contribute to strategy development

About You

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 15 years equity investing experience with direct responsibility for long/short portfolio management
  • Demonstrated track record of alpha generation and delivering positive returns across market cycles
  • Deep expertise in equity valuation, financial modeling, and fundamental research
  • Strong understanding of short-selling mechanics and hands-on experience managing short books
  • Proven risk-management capabilities, including scenario analysis, exposure control, and liquidity/risk limit monitoring
  • Ability to make high-conviction decisions in uncertain and fast-moving markets
  • Leadership experience mentoring analysts or junior PMs
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA/FRM preferred
