Project Director - Manufacturing
Sydney CBD
12-Month Initial Contract
$1,200 - $1,700 + Super per Day

About the Company

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a government organisation delivering a nationally significant advanced manufacturing facility. This landmark project will play a key role in developing sovereign manufacturing capability, with a strong focus on modern methods of construction (MMC), modularisation, automation, and digital manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic direction and operational leadership across land identification, planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and eventual facility operations.
  • Leading engagement with executive steering committees, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust governance, risk management, and reporting frameworks.
  • Overseeing the integration of IT, operational technology (OT), and data infrastructure into facility design and operational systems.
  • Coordinating construction delivery teams and advanced manufacturing system installers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, sustainability, and operational performance.
  • Championing modern methods of construction (MMC), modularization, and innovative manufacturing practices.
  • Building collaborative partnerships with industry, universities, training providers, and research organizations to foster innovation and capability development.
  • Supporting workforce planning and skills development initiatives to create a future-ready manufacturing workforce.

About You

What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience leading large-scale infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing, or advanced technology facility projects.
Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing systems, MMC, and modular construction methodologies.
Experience integrating robotics, automation, and digital manufacturing technologies.
Knowledge of IT/OT integration, data infrastructure, and smart manufacturing environments.
Strong commercial, procurement, and contract management experience.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills.
Experience working within complex government or highly regulated project environments will be highly regarded.
