About the Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished Project Director to provide strategic leadership for our East West Rail programme, based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. This is a senior role with accountability for shaping the programme's delivery capability, embedding robust governance, and positioning the project for a seamless transition into Programme Support Works and the future Main Civils & Stations packages.

You will hold full responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of East West Rail surveys, setting clear direction and standards while leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory, assurance, and stakeholder requirements. Acting as a key senior interface, you will influence outcomes across the programme, driving performance, assurance, and long-term value.

Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire – 4 days onsite

Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Responsibilities

  • Leading all phases of Surveys delivery, ensuring full contractual, programme, cost and quality compliance
  • Building and nurturing a high-performing team culture with clarity of roles and collaborative ways of working
  • Acting as primary point of contact for the client, ensuring proactive communication and strong customer care
  • Leading commercial and finance strategies, including robust financial management and cost control across all workstreams
  • Championing a collaborative culture that integrates SHEQ support with delivery, ensuring teams are safe and responsible

About You

This Project Director Role Is Ideal For Someone Who

  • Brings significant senior leadership experience within Tier 1 organisations, delivering complex, high-value major infrastructure programmes
  • Has a strong track record of operating at a senior, client-facing level, effectively managing relationships across regulated, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in construction methodologies, programme governance and the commercial delivery of major infrastructure schemes
  • Holds a degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Champions wellbeing, inclusion and high-performance culture, fostering environments where diverse perspectives and leadership behaviours thrive
