Business Services Manager
£50,000 – £60,000 per annum

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in the South East with a strong regional presence and a growing client base of owner-managed businesses and SMEs. The firm is known for its collaborative culture, modern working environment, and commitment to supporting both client success and employee development. This opportunity sits within a dynamic Business Services team and offers exposure to a varied portfolio of clients, alongside the chance to support and develop junior team members. The role also provides opportunities to contribute to business development initiatives and work closely with senior leadership on client strategy and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SME clients across a range of sectors
  • Review accounts preparation assignments and provide practical, value-added advice to clients
  • Ensure client deadlines and compliance requirements are met efficiently and accurately
  • Attend client meetings both in person and virtually as required
  • Support senior leadership with work-in-progress monitoring and fee note preparation
  • Assist with ad hoc project-based assignments and specialist engagements
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop trainees and senior team members
  • Undertake line management responsibilities where appropriate
  • Support business development activity including networking and attending prospective client meetings

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience within an accountancy practice environment
  • Experience managing a client portfolio independently
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud-based accounting software packages
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and developing junior staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Motivated, proactive, and commercially aware approach to client service
  • Previous line management experience (desirable)
