Location: Central Europe regionDepartment: Business DevelopmentEmployment Type: Full-time, reporting to EU Sub Area HeadPosition OverviewThe Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing the company’s crop protection portfolio in line with market opportunities, customer needs, competitive developments, and business objectives.The role works closely with Regulatory, Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Technical/R&D, and European/Zonal teams to identify new opportunities, develop competitive product propositions, support registrations, and successfully commercialize products.
Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Strategy & DevelopmentSupport the development of portfolio strategies, including new product ideas, pipeline strategy, project premises, and portfolio priorities.Identify and evaluate opportunities for new active substances, formulations, products, crops, pests, diseases, and new uses.Develop and maintain a competitive product portfolio aligned with customer needs and market trends.Manage product lifecycle and identify opportunities for portfolio optimization and expansion.Market & Competitive IntelligenceMonitor competitor activities, product launches, registrations, positioning, and market movements.Conduct market reviews and data analysis to identify new business opportunities.Analyse customer needs, market trends, and competitive positioning.Develop market analyses, sales forecasts, business cases, and return plans for new projects.Product Positioning & Value PropositionDevelop the company’s product value propositions and positioning, acting as the technical/product referent.Define product use patterns, including crops, target pests/diseases/weeds, doses, application timing, and application windows.Support the development of product launch strategies and commercial positioning.Regulatory & Technical DevelopmentWork closely with the Regulatory/Registration Team on registration strategies, protocols, labels, intended uses, and project priorities.Develop, together with Regulatory and Sales, GAP tables to support Data Gap Analysis and registration processes.Propose and support efficacy trial programs for new and existing products.Review technical and efficacy data and translate findings into product positioning and development recommendations.Actively contribute to European/Zonal development projects and ensure close cooperation with Regulatory and other functions.Commercial & Marketing SupportLead Area Demand Generation Plans for key and new products in cooperation with Business Development and Sales.Support customer relationship initiatives, including customer meetings, product presentations, field demonstrations, and technical support.Support and contribute to marketing initiatives, product launches, promotional materials, and sales tools.Provide technical and portfolio expertise to Sales and Business Development teams.Portfolio PerformanceMonitor portfolio performance against sales, profitability, market potential, and business-case objectives.Provide regular recommendations to management regarding portfolio opportunities, risks, priorities, and investments.Maintain portfolio and pipeline information and ensure alignment with overall company strategy.Qualifications & ExperienceUniversity degree in Agronomy, Crop Protection, Chemistry or a related field.5+ years of relevant experience in crop protection, agrochemicals, product management, technical development, regulatory, sales, or business development.Strong knowledge of plant protection products, active substances, formulations, crops, and pests/diseases/weeds.Understanding of European/zonal registration processes is an advantage.Strong analytical, commercial, project management, and communication skills.Fluent English and strong MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint skills.Key QualificationsStrategic and commercial thinkingStrong crop protection technical knowledgeMarket and competitive analysisCustomer orientationProject and stakeholder managementCross-functional collaborationData-driven decision makingProactive and results-oriented mindset
