Portfolio Manager

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to oversee a complex portfolio of programs and projects within a secure government environment. The role is responsible for ensuring strong governance, strategic alignment, and successful delivery outcomes across multiple workstreams. It requires proven experience in ICT portfolio environments, with a strong focus on change management, stakeholder engagement, and end-to-end portfolio oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee a portfolio of programs and projects to ensure alignment with strategic priorities
  • Lead portfolio governance, including reporting, performance tracking, and decision support for senior stakeholders
  • Act as the central coordination point between program/project managers and executive stakeholders
  • Ensure effective prioritisation, sequencing, and resource allocation across the portfolio
  • Provide consolidated reporting on portfolio performance, risks, dependencies, and benefits realization
  • Drive and support organizational change management activities across programs and projects
  • Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, assurance processes, and security requirements
  • Identify and manage portfolio-level risks, issues, and interdependencies
  • Support continuous improvement of portfolio management processes and practices
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery outcomes

Requirements and Experience

Experience supporting large-scale government capability programs (desirable)
Proven experience as a Portfolio Manager or Senior Program/Project Manager within government or complex enterprise environments
Demonstrated experience delivering and managing change management initiatives
Strong understanding of portfolio governance frameworks, reporting, and performance management
Experience managing complex, multi-stream ICT or capability portfolios
Experience working within secure, highly regulated environments
Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies
NV1 required
Contract Duration: 18 months (Chance of extension 2 x 1 year)
