LEADERSHIP ROLE
TIER 1 PROJECTS – ARCHITECTURE, PUBLIC ART
FULL-TIME POSITION IN COLLINGWOOD, VIC

We have an opportunity for a senior industrial designer to join our interdisciplinary practice. This leadership role would suit someone with 15+ years of industrial design experience and will provide the opportunity to work on Tier 1 architectural and public art projects.
As Project Director, the leadership role will support the division with ultimate project accountability for its commercial success, design excellence, ownership of client and stakeholder relationships and team management. You will oversee all project-related stages, from concept to completion and have a keen eye for detail and quality control. This management role is supported by senior industrial designers and project administrators to assist with design delivery, general operations, and commercial administrative activities.
Responsibilities
- Leadership:
- Contribute to Tilt’s growth and industry influence
- Responsible for data integrity across all operational systems
- Manage project pipeline, resources and reporting
- Mentor and develop expertise of team
- Project Delivery:
- Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of architecture and public art projects
- Managing client relationships
- Review projects, risk, and inform decision-making across the division
- Sales:
- Manage Tier 1 client relationships
- Support existing client relationships and new business sales as required
- Lead contract negotiations
- Finance:
- Develop strategies to maintain financial growth
- Accountable for the financials of all projects – hourly rates, invoicing, pay claims, retention and variations
- Oversee division responsibility for cash flow analysis and reporting
About You
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can motivate and influence others to drive better outcomes. With high energy and a hands-on approach, you will have a sharp attention to detail, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ease with client relationships are key for this role, as is the ability to work confidently and within a team.
Eligibility
- A Degree or higher in industrial design or engineering disciplines.
- Minimum 15+ years demonstrated experience and ability to take large-scale design projects from concept to completion.
- Commercial acumen, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication skills (written/verbal) with an ability to present to senior stakeholders.
- Leadership quality and ability to influence and mentor.
- An ability to work autonomously on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced CAD modelling skills (Solidworks / Onshape / Rhino etc.)
- At the time of application, it is essential to have legal rights to work in Australia (an Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency).
- You must reside in Melbourne and be able to commute and work from our Collingwood Studio.
