About the Team

The Project Coordinator position is part of a multi-disciplinary research team at the centre for Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation (IMPACCT) based within the Faculty of Health, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), in Ultimo, Sydney, NSW. This role will oversee and coordinate all activities of the MRFF funded ‘Delivering better care for older people with cancer’ project, a hybrid effectiveness-implementation clinical trial of a geriatric oncology model of care in cancer services.

IMPACCT encompasses a group of clinical academics who generate outstanding research that impacts people affected by a range of chronic conditions or who have palliative care needs. IMPACCT’s research is dedicated to improving the care, outcomes and quality of life of people living with chronic illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, older people and those with palliative care needs. With a transdisciplinary research program focused on quality and safety, dignity and physical function, engagement with community, and evidence-based approaches, IMPACCT’s researchers inform impeccable assessment, treatment and management of complex care problems.

About You

You are a highly motivated and details orientated professional with experience in project management in clinical research and clinical trials. Your knowledge spans complex project management including clinical trials and implementation of clinical models of care, and you possess a deep understanding of the ethical considerations involved in working with vulnerable populations, such as individuals living with cancer and those who are older.

As an ideal candidate you will possess:

  • A postgraduate degree in health
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to develop clinical trial protocols, ethics applications, and research reports/publications
  • Qualitative and quantitative research skills including data collection and analysis
  • Proven ability to coordinate clinical research projects with health services and clinician stakeholders, including development of project plan, monitoring progress and oversight of project budget
  • Clinical trials experience and understanding of ICH Good Clinical Practice
  • Demonstrated capacity to work sensitively and ethically with older people and those living with cancer

Eligibility

With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following key selection criteria:

  • Experience in research project management (particularly in clinical trials)
  • Experience in research in cancer and/or older people
  • Experience in clinical trials (including hybrid implementation effectiveness designs) and knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice
  • Understanding of the ethical requirements and sensitivities in undertaking research with someone with cancer
  • Evidence of skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods including data collection, analysis and write up

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $107,402 - $118,813 pa (HEW 7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is part time (FTE 0.6, 3 days a week) and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis until February 2029.
