About the Opportunity

Sul Ross State University is seeking a Project Coordinator for the GEAR UP program in Ft. Stockton. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or a related field, along with two years of experience working with low-income and academically disadvantaged individuals. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the academic achievement and success of students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate GEAR UP activities for Middle & High School participants
• Provide academic advisement and assistance for school completion and postsecondary entry
• Organize workshops, events, and college visitations for students and the community
• Maintain student records and follow-up information
• Coordinate mentoring opportunities and support for participants' families
• Attend trainings and meetings as required
• Supervise and coordinate tutors and mentors

About You

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting academic achievement for low-income and first-generation populations. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
