Our client is hiring a Project Director to lead large-scale substation projects supporting data centres. The role involves direct oversight of multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, to spec, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project DeliveryOwn full delivery responsibility (technical, commercial, programme).Coordinate all design and engineering teams under the Lead Consultant role.Ensure deliverables meet client expectations and quality standards.Track changes in scope and ensure commercial implications are captured.
Commercial ManagementOversee project profitability, cost tracking, and revenue reporting.Produce monthly financial performance reports and quarterly board updates.Agree fees, scope, and drawdown schedules with clients.Raise invoices and follow up on outstanding payments (max 60-day terms).
Client Management & Business DevelopmentMaintain direct relationships with key clients.Handle all project-related issues or escalations.Identify cross-selling opportunities and support new business pitches.Attend client meetings and presentations as needed.
RequirementsBEng or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or similar.10+ years’ experience with substation/switchyard projects (up to 765kV ideal).Data centre project experience required.Strong presales, design, and delivery management experience.Comfortable with project P&L ownership and reporting.Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.Proficiency in MS Office and project/design tools.Chartered or Incorporated Engineer preferred.
