About the roleThe Project Coordinator or Project Engineer will support the delivery of telecommunications infrastructure projects in the mining sector, working closely with the Project Manager and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth execution and client satisfaction. This role focuses on coordinating tasks, managing documentation, and facilitating communication to meet operational and safety standards. The Project Coordinator will uphold APD’s “First Time Right” philosophy, contributing to innovation and excellence in a dynamic mining environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and project milestones.Manage project schedules, track deliverables, and organise resources under the guidance of the Project Manager.Facilitate collaboration with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to support project progress.Assist in implementing risk management and governance processes, ensuring adherence to mining safety and industry standards.Support engineers, riggers, and technical specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.Prepare and maintain project reports, updates, and documentation to ensure transparency and client visibility.
Essential DutiesSupport the definition of project scope and objectives in collaboration with the Project Manager and client stakeholders.Maintain detailed project plans, tracking progress against milestones and dependencies.Assist in coordinating design, testing, and commissioning phases to meet client specifications.Organise on-site and off-site activities, supporting logistics in remote mining environments.Participate in governance meetings, risk assessments, and safety reviews to uphold project standards.Help facilitate operational handovers, preparing documentation and supporting client training.Monitor project tasks, proactively addressing issues and escalating to the Project Manager as needed.
RequirementsStrong written and verbal English communication skills.Experience supporting telecommunications or infrastructure projects, preferably in mining or industrial sectors.Basic understanding of LTE, microwave, IP/MPLS or similar technologies and their application in mission-critical settings.Willingness to travel occasionally to remote Pilbara sites for project support and team coordination.Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Collaboration and ReportingThe Project Coordinator reports to the Project Manager and works closely with the Mining Telecommunications Lead, client representatives, technical architects, and delivery teams to support end-to-end project success. The role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams and partners to deliver innovative network solutions.
LocationThis role is based in Perth, Western Australia, with opportunities to work from APD’s Osborne Park and St Georges Terrace offices, including access to state-of-the-art lab environments in the CBD. Occasional site visits to the Pilbara may be required.
