About the Opportunity

Portfolio Support Manager
Location: South West/East England (3 days per week on-site, 2 days remote)
Salary: Up to £50,200 + benefits | Permanent | Full-time

Are you a PMO professional who thrives on governance, assurance, and supporting project managers to deliver their best work? This role offers the chance to take on a forward-facing, hands-on PMO position at enterprise level, supporting a portfolio of more than 100 projects covering IT, construction, fleet, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Champion project management standards, governance, and best practice
  • Provide assurance, audits, and stage-gate reviews to keep delivery on track
  • Lead steering groups, facilitate workshops, and report on project health, risks, and approvals
  • Coach and support project managers to build capability
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, not just an administrator

This is a newly created position in an expanding PMO team, joining at a pivotal time as a new strategy is rolled out and large-scale projects continue to increase in volume and complexity.

About You

PMO experience in a large or complex environment
Hands-on project management background with a proven track record of delivery
Strong knowledge of governance, assurance, and reporting
Ability to engage effectively with project managers, programme managers, and executives
Project management qualifications (PRINCE2, APM or similar). Programme management qualifications such as MSP are desirable
Experience with project finance would be an advantage
