The STRIDES project (STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems), funded by the U.S. Government, has a five-year performance period and aims to enhance global health security by extending technical support to partner countries. Its main objectives are to strengthen national and subnational laboratory networks for human and animal health, develop sustainable surveillance systems based on events and indicators, improve data collection and analysis for informed decision-making, and provide rapid technical assistance in case of outbreaks. STRIDES aligns with key indicators of the Joint External Evaluation in the areas of prevention, detection, and response, and helps partner countries, including the DRC, prevent and mitigate threats related to infectious diseases.
The Director of STRIDES Project DRC leads and coordinates the implementation of activities funded by the U.S. government under the Global Health Security (GHS), Monkeypox (Mpox), and Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers (VHF) portfolios. These activities aim to strengthen global health priorities in the country, with general objectives to enhance laboratory and surveillance system capacities to prevent, detect, and respond swiftly and effectively to emerging infectious diseases and other public health threats.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Education: Bachelor's or international equivalent in public health or related health fields, relevant to the role. Master's or international equivalent preferred. Project management certification preferred.
Experience: Generally, 10+ years of relevant experience with project management principles and practices, including 5+ years of personnel management.
