This Special Assets Portfolio Manager is responsible for assisting the special assets team with their client relationships with Midland States Bank including analyzing credits with a view to make sound credit decisions, identifying credit risks and preparing loans for presentation to the loan committee. This role plays a key part in identifying, mitigating, and managing credit risk while working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to protect the Bank’s interests. The Portfolio Manager supports the Special Assets team in developing and executing resolution strategies, including restructures, workouts, and OREO dispositions.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in commercial credit, loan review, special assets, or related banking functions.
Experience managing distressed loan portfolios or supporting credit remediation efforts is strongly preferred.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and financial modeling skills.
