Project Director – British Overseas Island Development

About the Opportunity

This project is a humanitarian infrastructure development project aimed at improving the medical and accommodation conditions of the Island. This pivotal role is responsible for driving improvements across critical areas, including healthcare and infrastructure, and overseeing daily operations, resource allocation, and long-term planning for the island’s development. The role requires strong on-the-ground coordination, stakeholder communication, and operational execution to uplift the community’s quality of life, while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Lead and manage daily operations to ensure effective implementation of healthcare, housing, infrastructure, and maintenance projects.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute medium- and long-term plans for island development in consultation with local residents and relevant authorities, managing the allocation and efficient utilization of all project resources.
• Team Coordination: Supervise and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team including legal, medical, communications, and infrastructure specialists.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for residents, local partners, government agencies, and external organizations.
• Legal Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with British law and standards in all project activities.
• Project Management: Manage project scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
• Liaison: Serve as the key liaison between the project team, island community, local authorities, and international stakeholders.
• Team Management: Mentor on-site team members and foster a collaborative, culturally respectful work environment.

About You

Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Administration, or related fields. Minimum 5 years’ experience in charity, aid, or public sector project management (preferably in island, remote, or international contexts). Prior involvement with international NGOs or organizations is highly desirable. Strong background in managing infrastructure, community development, or similar large-scale remote projects. Bilingual in English and Chinese is a MUST. Strong problem-solving, coordination, and cross-cultural communication skills. Willingness to work in remote environments and travel frequently.

Eligibility
