About the Opportunity

Our client, a nationally recognized leader in environmental consulting, is seeking an Environmental Project Director to lead and expand its Industrial Clean Air Act practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong technical background and business development expertise who can drive growth into new markets while maintaining a reputation for excellence in air quality consulting. This position offers significant career growth opportunities and the chance to shape strategic initiatives for clients across various industries. The selected candidate will oversee regional projects, develop client relationships, and provide high-level technical leadership. Hybrid work arrangements are preferred, with flexibility for remote work depending on qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts to grow air quality services, identifying and securing new opportunities.
  • Manage and provide technical direction for air quality projects, including regulatory compliance, emissions analysis, permitting, and pollution control strategies.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the industry by networking, attending conferences, and presenting on key topics.
  • Serve as a technical authority on Clean Air Act (CAA) compliance, greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations, permitting (NSR, PSD, Title V), air dispersion modeling, and health risk assessments.
  • Oversee evaluations of air pollution control technologies, emissions monitoring, and air quality impact assessments.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, providing guidance on risk management, regulatory interpretation, and technical problem-solving.
  • Recruit, train, and develop new team members to support business growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental or chemical engineering, meteorology, or a related discipline. Minimum 15 years of experience in air quality consulting, specializing in industrial regulatory compliance and innovative emissions reduction strategies. Strong background in federal and state air quality regulations, including CAA, GHG programs, and permitting requirements. Demonstrated success in business development and client management. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or relevant professional certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $180,000 – $220,000 per year, based on experience.
