Who is the PMP® credential for?

The certification is designed for skilled project managers (or team leaders) who have held leadership roles for a minimum of three years and fulfill the following criteria:

  • Oversee all aspects of a project from beginning to end under general supervision.
  • Led and managed multifunctional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
  • Exhibit substantial expertise and practical experience to effectively apply a methodology to projects with reasonably defined requirements and deliverables.

Eligibility Criteria

Category 1

For candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree, the following criteria must be met:

  • Present documentation of a minimum of three consecutive years of project management experience (within the last eight years) comprising 4,500 hours across five recognized process groups.
  • Provide proof of completion of at least 35 contact hours of formal project management training. How to acquire Contact Hours?

Category 2

For candidates without a degree, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • Present documentation of a minimum of five consecutive years of project management experience (within the last eight years) comprising 4,500 hours across five recognized process groups.

Application Process

How to achieve PMP® credentials?

1. Submitting Application Form

The first step in the application process involves completing an online (or paper-based) application by PMI.

2. Application Evaluation by PMI

Once your online application has been evaluated and determined successful, PMI will send you a notification requesting payment of the certification fee.

3. Paying Credential Fee

To pay, choose your preferred examination delivery method and indicate any specific accommodations needed through the online certification system.

4. PMP® Certification Examination

After payment, you will receive exam scheduling instructions from PMI. You have one year to sit and pass the exam from the date PMI confirms your application has been approved. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions; You have four hours to complete them.

5. Recertification

To maintain the PMP® credential, a professional must commit to ongoing education and professional development. Every three years, they must earn at least sixty (60) Professional Development Units (PDUs).
