About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading Data Center operator working closely with hyperscalers across APAC, expanding aggressively (beyond 200MW expansion in plan for the next couple of years), currently seeking for a Project Management and Construction Director to manage their Greenfield + Brownfield Data Center projects across APAC. They are working with most of the leading hyperscalers and have around a billion USD in funding to help their rapid expansion.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Project Execution:
- Lead the development and execution of master programs, project charters, and budgets for greenfield and brownfield data centre projects across the region.
- Translate business requirements into clear, actionable project plans and deliverables.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle (design, procurement, construction, commissioning), ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and implement robust project controls, including timelines, resource allocation, risk management, and cost control strategies.
- Team & Partner Management:
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing, cross-functional project teams.
- Source, manage, and collaborate with a network of specialist consultants, contractors, and subject matter experts.
- Foster strong collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Energy & Sustainability, and Operations teams.
- Financial & Technical Oversight:
- Prepare and manage project capital funding, cash flow, and expenditures, ensuring strict adherence to approved budgets.
- Lead the tender and contract administration processes.
- Possess deep knowledge of critical M&E systems (e.g., UPS, Generators, Chillers, Cooling Towers) and their testing & commissioning protocols (FAT, SAT, IST).
- Review and interpret multi-disciplinary design and construction drawings (Architectural, Structural, M&E).
- Compliance, Safety & Sustainability:
- Champion a culture of "Zero Harm," ensuring full compliance with all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements on-site.
- Ensure all projects comply with local codes, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
- Drive the integration of sustainable design principles and oversee the pursuit of relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, Green Mark).
About You
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project management and construction, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex data centre projects from inception to completion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep familiarity with data centre critical systems, risk redundancy configurations, and commissioning processes.
- Strong financial acumen with expertise in project cost control and management.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- LEED Accredited Professional or similar sustainability certification is highly desirable.
- PMP, P.E., or other relevant professional credentials.
- Personal Competencies:
- Leadership: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and develop teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with precise attention to detail.
- Mobility: Willingness and ability to undertake regional travel and extended stays as required for project development.
