Responsibilities
- Develop transaction specific asset and hedging strategies that optimize excess yield vs. capital within regulatory, accounting, operating and risk management constraints.
- Develop asset and credit related pricing assumptions to support the pricing of reinsurance transactions, with a particular focus on Asset Intensive transactions.
- Work with internal teams including the Global Portfolio Management and Credit teams to construct an optimal portfolio and to determine the best path to execution.
- Communicate the target portfolio strategy to internal stakeholders, including the C-suite, and gain the necessary approvals.
- Negotiate investment guidelines and treaty terms with clients to deliver the flexibility necessary to manage asset risk and generate target returns.
- Lead efforts to close the asset side of the transaction, including operational aspects of receiving the client portfolio and investment reposition to RGA’s target strategy.
- Suggest and review new tools and frameworks to improve new business pricing process.
- Develop relationships with external contacts and internal cross-functional areas.
- Direct the efforts of analysts to support the transaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
Education and Experience
MBA graduate and at least 5 years of relevant work experience Or Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance related field with within 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Highly advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Advanced Bloomberg skills.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
- Advanced negotiation skills to assist with internal/external discussions.
- Highly advanced understanding of investment/market concepts, especially fixed income analytics (i.e. sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity and term structure of interest rates, spread).
- Highly advanced knowledge of asset liability management.
- Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously.
- Advanced ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects.
Eligibility
Preferred
- CFA or significant progress towards completion.
- Technology savvy, programming and process improvement/automation skills.
- 5+ years corporate credit experience.
- 5+ years alternative investment experience.
- 5+ years fixed income management experience in an insurance client environment.
